Start to Climb

A full introduction to rock climbing giving you the core skills to start climbing independently and safely. We cover: climbing equipment, tying onto the ropes, belaying, rope work, choosing anchors and building belays, movement skills and techniques, abseiling, how to use guidebooks and route choice. The course includes a lot of climbing. We will start on single pitch crags (or depending on the weather, an indoor climbing wall) and progress to seconding multi-pitch routes.

Experience Days

A course for those who would like to try out this rapidly growing sport. Spend the at a local crag where you will be climbing on rock. You will learn some of the basic skills involved in climbing - using a harness, tying into the rope and belaying.

Climb Outdoors

This course is for climbers who have learnt to climb indoors on a climbing wall and wish to develop their skills outdoors. The course will cover: setting up belays, rope work on single and double ropes, the crag environment, guidebooks, climbing equipment and how to use it correctly. The course is held in North Wales, which has a wide range of single-pitch, multi-pitch, sport and traditional routes all within easy reach of each other making it a great location in which to learn to climb on rock.

Sea Cliff Climbing

To climb in this environment requires additional considerations. This course aims to give you the confidence to overcome the extra difficulties you may encounter when climbing on sea cliffs.

Guided Climbing

Let us take you up the very best classic rock climbs in Britain. We love climbing and really enjoy sharing the best routes in the North Wales with other climbers. We would also combine guiding with instruction - you climb great routes and learn at the same time.

Rope Work and Self Rescue Techniques

What do you do when things go wrong? This course will give you the skills to be able to help yourself. It aims to help you avoid getting into trouble and give you the skills to implement a rescue if you do.

Navigation and Mountain skills

Whether you are a hill walker or a climber you need to be able to be able to work out where you are and how to get to your next location.

A Climb Outdoors navigation course is progressive; teaching you the skills and techniques to be a competent navigator. Through his experience in training people to undertakes expeditions in British mountains, Steve can help make you a competent and confident hill walker or mountaineer. Scrambling Courses

Let us take you for a great day scrambling in North Wales. Scrambling in the mountains of Snowdonia is a fantastic way to see the mountains. Alpine ridges, rocky buttress and deep gullies set North Wales apart as an outstanding location for a couple of days scrambling. Climb Outdoors can help you develop the skills to stay safe when scrambling: navigation, route choice and the more advanced skills of roped scrambling up routes that verge on climbing. Some of the classic routes we offer are: North Ridge of Tryfan/Bristly Ridge; Cniefion Arete or; Main Cliff of Glyder Fawr.
