About Us

Climb Outdoors is run by Steve Thomas (MIA), who also leads all of the courses. Steve is an experienced climber who holds the Mountain Instructor Award (MIA). He is a full member of the Association of Mountaineering Instructors (AMI) and the Mountain Leaders Training Association.

Steve is a Geography and Outdoor Education teacher as well as a climbing, mountaineering and kayaking instructor. It is this teaching experience which he believes makes it easy for him to help people learn new mountain skills, whether they are just starting to climb and scramble or whether they are working at an advanced level.

Climb Outdoors works with a range of clients, from complete novices to those who want to start lead climbing.

We offer courses taking in the classic routes in North Wales. We run our courses here because it is an unrivalled mountain area with a variety of climbing that is unmatched in Britain - there is the classic rock in the Llanberis Pass and Ogwen Valley, adventurous sea cliffs at Gogarth, roadside cragging at Tremadog and sports routing on coast. The varied nature of rock lets you learn a comprehensive range of techniques that will form a solid base from which to build on.

For our scrambling courses we head to some of the outstanding ridges of Snowdonia.

The majority of our courses are arranged privately enabling us to build a course to fit your needs . If you are thinking about a rock climbing or scrambling course contact us with details of what you want to do and what you would like to take away from the course and your time scales. We'll get straight back to you with ideas on how we could help.

Climb Outdoors also has experience of training and leading Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme participants up to Gold Award.
